Your wedding photos will become some of the most meaningful keepsakes from your wedding day. Long after the flowers fade and the music ends, the photographs I take, are what preserve the emotions, details, and memories of the celebration. I feel this deeply and I treasure the honour you have given me.
But creating beautiful wedding photos doesn’t happen by accident.
One of the biggest factors behind relaxed, natural, and timeless wedding photography is a well-planned timeline. All of our wedding packages include timeline planning and having been involved in hundreds of weddings over the years, one thing I know for sure is that, a thoughtful photography timeline helps couples feel calm, allows me to work creatively, and ensures no important moments are missed. When things run late, thats when photos and memories are lost.
Wedding days move quickly. Without a clear timeline, the day can start to feel rushed, stressful, and disorganized — especially during key photo moments.
A photography timeline helps:
The goal isn’t to schedule every second perfectly. It’s to create enough space for meaningful moments to unfold naturally.
I will absolutely be involved in your wedding timeline, this is to ensure, enough time is allocated to capturing your memories, how long it takes to settle family into a portrait, to ensure Uncle Bob doesn’t pop off to the loo, or Aunty Sue has time to adjust her dress a few times too. Planning together helps avoid tight schedules and unnecessary pressure later. Many couples forget to allow travel time in their wedding day and have on the odd occasion forgotten that it takes about 35 mins to drive from Parkes to Eugowra, or 25 mins from Forbes to Parkes for example and has the ceremony in one place and the reception in another, forgetting, details such as allowing time for the toilet, or getting 120 people on a bus. Don’t worry, I have planned and executed so many weddings now, I can plan this in my sleep.
Most couples finalise their photography timeline around 6–8 weeks before the wedding, however, as soon as you know your ceremony and reception location details, we can catch up and start to plan!
These are often some of the most emotional and storytelling-focused images of the day.
For relaxed coverage, it’s best to have:

A first look is a private moment where the couple sees each other before the ceremony.
Many couples choose a first look because it:
There’s no right or wrong choice — it simply depends on the experience you want for your wedding day.

Family photos can become one of the most time-sensitive parts of the day.
To keep things efficient:
Most family portrait sessions take between 20–40 minutes depending on group size.

Lighting plays a huge role in wedding photography, and golden hour is often the most flattering light of the day.
Golden hour happens shortly before sunset and creates:
Even stepping away for 10–15 minutes during sunset can make a huge difference in your final gallery.

Almost every wedding runs slightly behind schedule. Building in buffer time creates flexibility and keeps everyone relaxed.
Kate is an experienced wedding photographer and knows how to adapt quickly, work with changing light, and guide couples naturally through portraits.
The best photos often happen when couples stop worrying about the timeline and stay present in the moment. Try to resist the urge to send her lists of Pinterest Photos! She will always work to original work and capture your day, in your style, in her artistic way.
Your wedding photos should reflect how the day felt — not just how it looked.
A relaxed timeline allows for genuine laughter, emotional moments, and authentic interactions that create meaningful images.
A great wedding photography timeline isn’t about perfection. It’s about creating enough space for real moments, beautiful light, and meaningful memories to unfold naturally.
When couples plan intentionally and allow time to breathe throughout the day, the result is a wedding gallery that feels effortless, emotional, and timeless.
And in the end, those are the photos that matter most.
